Meet John Martin

  I am seeking to serve the students of our city by securing a seat on the New London Board of Education. 

For 21 years, I had the privilege of teaching many of our city's fine young men and women in the classroom. Now, I want to use that same experience and passion to serve you—and many of my former students, now parents—in a new venue.

Our public schools are the heart of our community, and the well-being of our students is a shared responsibility. While New London Public Schools has made great strides, we are at a critical juncture. Reported issues such as significant budget challenges due to the expiration of federal COVID-era funding, a persistent teacher shortage, and academic performance gaps demand our urgent attention.

My decades in the classroom have given me a unique perspective on these issues. I understand the daily challenges our teachers face and the direct impact that budget shortfalls and staffing shortages have on our students' learning and well-being. If elected, I will advocate for responsible fiscal management, champion initiatives to recruit and retain the best educators, and work collaboratively to ensure every student has the resources they need to succeed.

I believe in our students and our schools. I am not a politician; I am an educator who wants to give back to the community that has given me so much.
